Great Lakes USA – Live Fast, Die Whenever

Found this album searching for music tagged with Hot Water Music, and this band delivers. “Live Fast, Die Whenever” is their first full-length album, released in November 2012, and it is fast, gritty, and melodic guitar-driven punk rock. As I mentioned, I found them by searching tags for “Hot Water Music,” but Great Lakes USA has a sound that is less layered and contemplative and more straightforwardly in-your-face, making this band perhaps more comparable to Refused, circa “The Shape of Punk to Come.”

On my 4-mile running playlist, Great Lakes USA goes somewhere around the 2-mile mark, when I need to suspend mercy to keep pace.
